We all want it but no it’s not Google OS.
gOS is the latest Linux based OS for budget PCs. WalMart was selling gPC(gOS powered PCs) at only USD199 and the developer kit at only USD59.99. More here
gOS is developed by Good OS LLC out of Los Angeles. Based on Ubuntu Linux 7.10 and runs the Enlightenment E17 interface instead of KDE or Gnome. Despite not being created by Google, gOS uses Google’s online applications such as GMail, Google News, Google Maps, Google Calendar, YouTube, etc. It’s a neat concept for a Linux distribution, but how practical is it? One thing for sure, since the cost is low everyone will now have the opportunity to own a PC.
I am currently downloading my copy of gOS via BitTorrent. You can look forward to a review from me within the next few days.
Get you own copy of gOS via BitTorrent or direct download from the gOS download page.

Have Gos not but yet run, since I was playing with Monowall (I shall stick with Shorewall).
E17 interface quite nice, tried it last time with E-Live.
There’s another distro which combines Opensuse(10.2) with E17, Jacklab, for music production.
Thanks Prakash,
enlightenment is just superb man. low resource requirement with simple yet clean interface. The installation currently is still a bit difficult for new users but it is still good software.
I’ll give Jacklab a spin soon.
Can gOS run without install? Like a live CD.
Dicky,
yes you certainly can. gOS is distributed as a live CD and the option to install is provided if you choose to install.
My recommendation, run the live cd for a few days, see if you like it, try other distros too and then decide f you want to install.
Danny, thanks for your information. I actually try Ubuntu before and i like it. The reason that i don’t want to install is i am using a lot applications that don’t have Linux version. Thats why i like Live CD.
Good move Dicky, I was in the same situation before too, took me some time to switch over
Hi, I just downloaded gOS from their website but am now trying to see how I could run it like a live CD.
How do I take the ISO file that I have downloaded and start viewing gOS?
I have run it through PowerISO and extracted the files but that does not make a live CD.
Adin, you could use a cd burning software like nero or K3B to burn the iso image onto a cd/dvd. Pop the cd in and boot up, you should be able to boot into the live cd.
broken, I seek for download links iso image of gOS 2.0 … ?
